Cerebro clusterboard supports up to four Raspberry Pi, NVIDIA Jetson, or Radxa CM5 compute modules (crowdfunding)

What’s better than a Raspberry Pi Compute Module? If you’re working on projects that support parallel processing, the answer might be two Raspberry Pi Compute Modules… or maybe four of them.

The Cerebro clusterboard is designed to let you attach up to four compute modules to a single baseboard. It supports Raspberry Pi CM4 and CM5 compute modules, but it also supports NVIDIA Jetson NX or Radxa CM5 modules. You can use four identical modules or mix and match depending on your needs. The only catch? You can’t actually buy this board yet.

A Dutch group called Sparklab Solutions has launched a preview page for an upcoming Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign that spells out details and provides a preview of the price tag: the first 200 folks to back the campaign will get to reserve a Cerebro board for €429 ($488), but there’s no word on the regular crowdfunding price, the retail price, or the estimated ship date.

The board has a wide range of features, including:

  • 13 x M.2 slots (for storage, wireless modules, and AI accelerators)
  • HDMI, USB 3.1 Gen 2, and USB 2.0  multiplexer (for shared access across modules)
  • Onboard Gigabit VLAN managed switch
  • 2 x RJ45 connectors
  • 4 x fan connectors
  • 1 x microSD card slot
  • 1 x nano SIM card holder
  • 40-pin Raspberry Pi HAT compatible I/O header
  • Lockable I/O headers (5x series, 5 x SPI, 5 x I2C, 1 x GPIO)
  • Real Time Clock
  • Status LEDs for power and LAN activity
  • Support for up to 72V power input
